Metal-free ceramics

 The last ten years has seen a revolution in cosmetic dentistry with the development of metal-free ceramics. There are very many different systems and materials on the market. The sub-structures of most are now being produced using CAD/CAM technology.

Choice of material

At Artisan Ceramics, our materials of choice fall into 2 groups.

Vita In-ceram (c)
for single anterior restorations... we believe this still to be the best and most aesthetically harmonious sub-structure, which we then veneer with Vita VM7 (c) porcelain.

We use Matchmaker Zirconium (c) for posterior restorations and bridgework of any span. The strength, biocompatibility and aesthetics of this material are superb when veneered with Matchmaker Zr (C) porcelain.

Quality comes first

 The sub-structures, we choose to have scanned by the manufacturer Shottlander and they in turn have the Zirconium Milled at a state-of-the-art milling centre, where they have invested a great deal of money in the latest equipment.

We consider this to be a better solution to long term accuracy and staying at the forefront of this technology than investing in in-house scanning and milling equipment, which can become obsolete quite quickly and also lose its accuracy if not fastidiously maintained.
